Beginner Guide
Everything a new player needs: the core loop, the three loadout choices and how to read a stage before you build.
The three choices that define every stage
- Pick 5 towers from the official 15 — across archers, mages, barracks and artillery.
- Pick 2 heroes from the official 12 — fielded per stage.
- Pick 3 spells from the official 9 — timing matters.
There is no single correct loadout — stages differ. A safe default: two damage sources (archers/artillery), one magic source (mages), one blocker (barracks), and use heroes and spells for the gap.
Read the stage before you build
- Watch the first wave's enemy mix — it previews the stage's lean.
- Flying units → add archers or an air hero (Ashbite).
- Armored units → add mages.
- Announced boss → hold it with barracks and focus damage.
Your first loadout (balanced shell)
| Slot | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Towers | Archer Garrison · Scholar Mage · Knights Order · Royal Catapult · Dwarven Culverin | One of each role. |
| Heroes | Gerald + Gemina | Simple: tank + utility. |
| Spells | Reinforcements · Rain of Fire · Teleportation Sigil | Save button, clear, flex. |
Upgrade & economy mindset
- Spend early on lanes that see traffic; over-upgrading a quiet lane wastes gold.
- Keep one spell as a save button (Reinforcements is the classic) for the wave that threatens a leak.
- Heroes are free value — use their abilities actively.
Common beginner mistakes
- One-category teams — only archers die to armor; only artillery leaks fast fliers.
- Holding all spells 'for later' — a spell that prevents a leak is worth more than cleanup burst.
- Ignoring barracks — blockers turn a kill zone into a firing range.
